About FIN*Birregin

Apart from the catshows and breeding, I have a business of my own since 1997. And that usually means I don't have any trouble of finding some sparetime for myself to enjoy the presence of our 4-legged babies and visiting the catshows every once in a while with my daughter.

FIN* BIRREGIN is located in Heikinlaakso in Helsinki about 20 minutes from the city centre. We have a big house in the middle of a tiny forest. The interior of our house is designed especially for our cats. We have lots of stands and small "shelves" near the ceiling line, so the cats have plenty of room to roam through the house. We have also built a big "cage" into our backyard where our cats can come and go as they please. Of course, in winter time, the entry to the "cage" is limited, only our domestic cat wants to spend time outside.

We do not cage our cats.

Breeding is very close to my heart, that's why I spend the first weeks tightly at home taking care of the babies while others are at work;) A Big thank goes to my 19-year old daughter who's always at home during the kitten time playing with them, making them social.

New additions have arrived into our cattery. I have for many years dreamed of having a naked cat, but didn't feel comfortable choosing a Sphynx due to the forced category change, I didn't want to change to the 3rd category. So now that FIFe has finally approved a naked cat called a Peterbald, I'm finally having my dream coming to live. 3 Peterbalds are my newest additions, so from now on, FIN* Birregin is also focusing on the Peterbalds as well as the oriental shorthairs, siamese and seychellois. First leagal Peterbald litter were born in Finland 5.8.2007 in our cattery.  

FIN* BIRREGIN kittens are home raised and the babies are introduced into our every-day life from the very day they are born. We always do our best handling the kittens as much as possible and play with them, so they leave home happy with good memories and well socialized.

Our kittens are vaccinated twice, wormed several times and equipped with a microchip and a health quarantee when they leave their home at the age of 13 weeks.

The rabies and a transfer will also be included if the baby goes abroad.

Due to the social attitude of orientals and siamese, we always try to find a permanent home with at least one cat already.

My aim is to breed few litters per year from well considered lines. That's why from time to time I import breeding cats from various countries to prevent inbreeding as much as possible. Due to the imports, we test our cats regurlarly for Felv/Fiv, klamydia, calici, herbes, microsporum canis, coronavirus neg.

Our babies leave their home healthy, well socialized with exceptional temperament and ready to face the new wonders of the world.

Olen Regina Bogdanoff ja olen kasvattanut itämaisia lyhytkarvoja sekä siamilaisia kissoja jo vuodesta 1999 jolloin kasvattajanimi BIRREGIN hyväksyttiin FIFEssä. 

Vapaa-ajan ongelmia ei juurikaan ole sillä olen ollut yksityisyrittäjä jo usean vuoden ajan.

Välillä kiireisen työn vastapainoksi käymme tyttäreni kanssa kissanäyttelyissä tapaamassa muita kasvattajia. Asumme Helsingin Heikinlaaksossa pienen metsän keskellä isossa rivitalossa jossa kissoillamme on tilaa temmeltää. Koko asuntomme onkin rakennettu "kissojen ehdoilla", eli niille on rakennettu runsaasti virikkeitä, erilaisia telineitä ympäri huoneistoja  jotta ne pysyvät kunnossa ja elämä on niille antoisaa. 

Kaikki kissamme ovat meille samanarvoisia ja asuvat kanssamme samoissa tiloissa. Emme hyväksy kissojen pitämistä häkissä ja koska oma leikkaamaton kollimme ei juurikaan merkkaile, niin myös se viettää runsaasti aikaa kanssamme vapaana. Tämä tietysti edellyttää tarkkaa valvontaa naaraittemme vuoksi. Kesäisin kissamme ulkoilevat ahkerasti puutarhaamme rakennetussa ulkotarhassa joka sekin näyttää vuosi vuodelta suurentuvan. Ulkotarhan on rakentanut Levatop Oy joka valitettavasti on luopunut jo ulkotarhojen rakentamisesta. Kissamme pääsevät ulkoilemaan myös yläkertamme verkotetulla parvekkeella. 

Kasvatustyössäni vanhempien sukutaulut sekä luonne terveyden lisäksi ovat ensisijalla ja vasta sitten tulevat muut asiat. Tämän vuoksi en kasvata varsinaisesti mitään tiettyä väriä, vaan pyrin enemmin hyvään geenikantaan. Tammikuun lopussa 2007 meille tuli myös meidän ensimmäinen Seychellois uros hollannista joka on tuonut jo arvokasta lisää kasvatukseeni sekä jättänyt erittäin hyviä jälkeläisiä. 

Aika ajoin tuon siis myös ulkomailta uutta verta jotta tämä suomalainen geenikanta ei menisi liian kapeaksi. Testautamme myös aika ajoin kasvatuksessa käyttämiämme kissoja. Kasvatuksessa käytämme vain parhaita ja terveitä kissoja. 

Vuoden 2007 alussa hyväksyttiin uusi rotu Peterbald FIFEssä ja Suomessa. Olemme tuoneet 3 ensimmäistä Peterbaldia Suomeen marraskuussa 2006. Koska rotu oli uusi, niin niiden rekisteröinti kesti tänne Suomeen peräti puoli vuotta. Suomen ensimmäinen laillinen peterbald pentue syntyi kissalaamme 5.8.2007.

Pennut ovat kasvatuskodissa vähintään 13 viikon ikään asti jolloin ne muuttavat uusiin koteihinsa rekisteröitynä, 2 kertaa rokotettuina, madotettuina sekä niillä on erikseen terveystodistus. 

Koska itämaiset kissat ovat hyvin sosiaalisia, niin pyrimme aina löytämään pennulle kodin jossa olisi jo ennestään ainakin yksi kissa. Kaikkein parhainta tietysti pennulle jos niitä lähtee 2 samaan paikkaan. Tällöin niiden sopeutuminen uuteen perheeseen sujuu parhaiten.
